How Fresh and Sweet is your KC*?

*KC Stands for Kids Church

Wish you had a fresh-o-meter to determine how fresh and sweet is your KC? Do you struggle looking for ways to improve? Want to gage how good you’re really doing? Answer these yes/no questions and keep track of your answers to find out where some improvement might be needed in order to impact the kids ages 5-12 in their spiritual growth.

For a FREE worksheet that goes alongside with this post, follow the link at the bottom.

  1. Are the kids smiling?
  2. Do the kids bring new friends to church?
  3. Are the kids participating during praise and worship time?
  4. Are the kids occasionally laughing?
  5. Do you invite the kids to events outside of the regular services?
  6. Do the kids have a positive reaction to the activities?
  7. Do you generally have no behavior issues with the kids?
  8. Do you regularly introduce new worship songs or games?
  9. Do the kids show fruit of spiritual growth within a year’s time?
  10. Do you teach the Bible?

Tally up your ‘yes’ answers and let’s evaluate where you’re currently at:

0-3 ‘Yes’ Answers | It’s not easy to say this but I’ll have to say it anyways: “Yikes”… you have a rotten and stale kids church. The good thing about being at rock bottom means you only have to go up from here! Check over the questions you answered “no” to and work on fixing some of those areas. Take some time writing down those weaknesses and pray for God to give you guidance in how to improve in one area.

4-6 ‘Yes’ Answers | Sounds like you’re halfway there! Don’t just be livin’ on a prayer… take some time to see what you can improve on. Get some feedback from parents and volunteers. Let them know you’re trying to cultivate a fresh and sweet kids church and appreciate their input.

7-9 ‘Yes’ Answers | Wow! That’s great! Sounds like you have an exciting program that is well on its way to perfect health. See where you’re lacking (i.e., volunteers, families, kids), find a pattern to it, and focus on working on the little things.
P.S. If you put ‘no’ as an answer to the final question: “Do you teach the Bible?”, I highly suggest working on this more. Otherwise you’ll have an exciting elementary babysitting program and not a fresh and sweet Kids Church.

10 ‘Yes’ Answers | WHAT IS YOUR SECRET TO KEEPING EVERYTHING AT A 10??? Just kidding! That’s awesome! God gets the glory for all that you do! Don’t forget to celebrate your volunteer team who are faithfully serving.

I hope this has helped you my friend! Keep on serving with joy and thank you for reading the KC Juice Box.
